Pakistan's IT exports hit 2.82 billion dollars, including 400 million from freelancers.

It is rare that Pakistan has posted a growth in the IT field, as Pakistan has provided services worth US$2.82 billion. This is quite an achievement, as Pakistan is improving its export services. It is noteworthy to mention that this is data from the 10 months of FY 2025, which means it is expected that IT exports could reach US 3.4-3.5 billion dollars after the total 12 months of data from IT exports for FY 2025. This is the highest Pakistan's IT exports have ever been, as at one time, Pakistan's IT exports in 2018 were near to only US$1.06 billion. This is the biggest export increase Pakistan has sector-wise, as the textile sector is only achieving status quo numbers and is unable to excel due to the price of electricity and withdrawn subsidies. However, the fact remains that Pakistan's biggest exports are textiles, and it is the main export source of Pakistan, which dominates the market and puts pressure on the government of Pakistan.

In India, the biggest market is IT, and in China, the biggest market is IT. Therefore, it is a fact that IT is the future, and whichever country invests in IT will secure long-term benefits for its economy. If you look at Argentina, its main source of exports was agriculture, and it entirely depended on that. However, a shift in the 1990s crippled Argentina's exports due to a shift in the global market and self-reliance, which was the reason Argentina defaulted 9 to 10 times. Therefore, it is important for every country to stay updated and have the flexibility to showcase diversification. This is why Pakistan's IT exports are vital, due to the IMF's unwillingness to entertain subsidies for the textile sector as well as its not letting the government of Pakistan reduce the taxes on export income. Moreover, it is expected that many people will start to focus on IT and will provide services via IT. The government of Pakistan predicts that IT exports for FY 26 could reach US $4 billion, which will be Pakistan's highest increase in IT services.
